In Japan, recently, many patients in desperate need of medical care have been turned away. Hospitals say that they have no available space to treat the patients and therefore they cannot be admitted. On case of this is when 69-year-old man on a bike crashed into a motorcycle. The elderly man was rejected by 14 hospitals. 90 minutes later, he was accepted in hospital, where he died. The motorcycle rider was also injured and rejected by two hospitals but got accepted into the third. Sources say he is recovering. A pregnant woman, who was denied by 19 hospitals, died eight days later after she fell unconscious during birth. The worst case was of a elderly woman who was rejected 49 time in Tokyo. I think that this is wrong. people shouldn't be rejected by hospitals because they don't have rrom. To solve this problem more staff should be hired, long term patients should be moved to special housing where nurses can take care of them, the hospitals should be larger or there should be more hospitals nearby. If innocent people are dying, something has to be done. Other suggestions from the article could also be helpful, "Health Minister Yoichi Masuzoe told a parliamentary committee last year that the rising number of elderly patients hospitalized for months was taking up space that could be used to treat emergency cases. Masuzoe urged the development of a community-wide support system to ease the burden on hospitals. The government also announced plans to increase the number of doctors and improve coordination among ambulances, emergency call centers and hospitals." I think this is a good way to help people who need our help!Citation:Article: YAMAGUCHI, MARI. "Injured man dies after rejection by 14 hospitals - Yahoo! News." Yahoo!
