Greenhouse Effect Interactive Website

When I went on http://forces.si.edu/atmosphere/interactive/atmosphere.html, I learned a lot of new things. I learned that it is necessary for the ozone (O3) layer to stay the way it is in order for our survival. If we had less ozone, then too many UV rays would reach the Earth, killing the cells in plant and animals. Then, only animals in the sea could survive because seawater blocks UV rays. However, if there is too much, then we will not get enough vitamin D, which would make our bones fragile and cause them to break easily. That's why we need to protect our ozone layer. Next comes our regular oxygen (O2). With too little oxygen, humans and several other species wouldn't be able to survive. If there was too much oxygen in the Earth, then things would randomly burst into flames. I know this sounds fun but rust me, it's not. Last is carbon dioxide (CO2). With too much carbon dioxide, the planet would be very could. It would be like the ice age all over again. However, with too much, it would be too hot. We would have to condense into the earth's poles, and even there, it may be too hot to live. Now that's we've learned about some of the gases in our atmosphere, we need to protect the balance in order for our survival.
